Faceless Women

An artistic protest campaign that took place in the streets of Jerusalem.

The campaign responded to the censorship of women faces from billboard advertisements due to pressures from religious orthodox groups in the city. In one of the censored ads, the head of a female model was cut off from a fashion photograph. As a response, in Faceless Women campaign, pictures of notable Jewish women were hanged in the city – with a description of their historic achievements, and their heads cut off.

The campaign attracted media attention and was covered in television, newspapers and internet websites.

Partners in the campaign: Sharon Gabay and Dana Gvili
